As someone who has been married to the same young bride for 41 years now, I cannot tell you how refreshing it is to hear this from someone as young as yourself. The whole notion of dying to self as a husband seems to be a foreign concept in the church today.
And, by the way, I am 100% with you on the beauty of the KJV.
The whole notion of dying to set is just amazing. To be a good husband, father, friend, coworker whatever distinction we want to make, dying to self is the best thing we can do. If I can die to myself and live a life that images Christ, I will have lived a good life.
I don't regularly read the KJV anymore but I agree that it is beautifully written. It was done so on purpose, as I have read, to be more uplifting in its role of public reading and teaching. Despite its translation flaws it is well worth learning to read.
If more marriages were solemnized with that two word sermon, "submit and die", more would survive the tests of time and human frailty.
I’m currently reading the KJV from Genesis to Revelation. I’ve read the NIV and ESV translations but not from cover to cover. So now I’m challenging myself to read the KJV cover to cover. It really is just beautiful. When I am feeling the beauty I read it while some classical music is playing and just feel super fancy hahaha.
And I agree. I think if we could all just attempt to die to ourselves, really put in the effort, than marriages, families, friendships and everything in between would flourish.
